Today’s Stuff 8/26/08
The Democratic National Convention continues this week and I can’t think of an adjective to describe how unenthused I am. I seriously don’t care, what they will say and what the republicans will say at their convention is predictable. “John McCain sucks” “Barack Obama sucks,” nothing new.
That’s why I’m happy to hear that Charles Barkley is running for governor of Alabama. Now that’s a guy I could vote for. Forget that I don’t agree with him on some issues, he stands by his word and says what he means, he doesn’t hold anything back. If he gets elected I think that could be a step in the right direction for politicians who actually say what they are thinking.
Obama the Dictator
And to think, Madonna compared John McCain to Hitler.
Barack Obama is trying his damnedest to get stations across the country to stop playing an ad that connects him to 1960’s terrorist William Ayers.
Obama not only aired a response ad to the spot linking him to William Ayers, but he sought to block stations the commercial by warning station managers and asking the Justice Department to intervene. The campaign also planned to compel advertisers to pressure stations that continue to air the anti-Obama commercial.
Isn’t Obama a “constitutional professor?” Shouldn’t he know that this ad is kinda protected by the first amendment. Just sayin’
Here’s the ad for those who haven’t seen…
The Obama campaign has called that spot a “false, negative attack,” but haven’t explained what’s false about it. Obama did have a friendship with Williams Ayers, they sat on the board of the Woods Foundation together, and they were friendly. I’m not sure about you but if I meet someone, go home and google their name only to find out they bombed the Capitol Building in the 60’s, I’d terminate the friendship pretty darn quick.
Pay attention America, this is how Obama will govern. This is a play straight out of the Fairness Doctrine, it’s a scary thought that our president could bully the media into not playing a certain advertisement, but it’s not too far off.
Barack the God
Unless you’ve been living in an unholy cave for the last two years, you know that Barack Obama is Jesus. It’s now official, he went on Maury and a paternity test proved God is the father.
Anyway, the democrats know this, how could you not? So they’ve decided to treat him as if he were a God.
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s big speech on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek temple.
Gee, will he be wearing a toga too, and at the end will he say “peace be with you” and then shower us with holy water? Who the hell approved this? Whoever did obviously hasn’t been following McCain’s YouTube channel. This is perfect fodder for another follow-up to his popular “The One” videos.
Pelosi the Hypocritical Idiot
Big Nance finally got a taste of her own medicine.
After Michigan Republicans went out and protested her stop in Ann Arbor, fellow frustrated Americans have been popping up at other Pelosi sightings. And it looks like it’s finally getting to the old hag.
House Democratic leaders and protesters waving McCain signs had a war of words Tuesday at a press event outside an old train station. The demonstrators interrupted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with chants of “Drill here! Drill now!”
Pelosi paused and asked the group, “Right here?”
Seeming to enjoy the back and forth, she followed with another question: “Can we drill your brains?”
I love that line that Pelosi and company are throwing out, right here? The response to that being, if there’s oil.
What does she mean by “can we drill your brains?” Does that mean she literally wants to kill them with an oil drill, or is she just wondering aloud whether or not there is recoverable oil inside a human skull?
She also had some really great falsities to throw out as well!
She went on to refer to the protesters, who continued to chant sporadically, as “handmaidens of Big Oil.” Arguing that increased offshore drilling would reduce gas prices by only a couple of pennies a decade from now, she referred to the demonstrators as the “2-cents-in-10-years-crowd.”
Not so much. Pelosi admits that releasing oil from the reserves would lower prices because it would increase supply, thus closing the gap between supply and demand. However, she says that prices won’t be lowered, or lowered very little, in ten years if we drill now. That doesn’t make any sense.
The fact is, supply and demand is driving the price up right now. The demand is 1.8 million bpd above supply. If you close that gap, you solve the problem. So yes, we need to use less oil, but that’s not all. We need to drill more. We can’t close that gap by simply using less; not all by ourselves. The demand and supply is a global amount, if we just lower our demand it will be dwarfed by China and India. So we must increase supply.
Also, these dumb “we” commercials Al Gore is putting out calling for 100% clean energy in 10 years is absurd. I have no problem striving for clean energy, but lets at least make the time line realistic.
And now, I bring you the quote of the day. From none other than…
…Big Nance Pelosi herself. She really shows her age in this quote.
The speaker said Obama and the other Democratic presidential candidates “have attracted millions of more voters — first-voters voters and many more voters who haven’t voted in a long time.”
Just for the record 25% of that quote was some variation of the word vote. Just sayin’
UPDATE: Pelosi says more dumb things.
The emblematic difference between the democrats and the republicans is not knowing how many houses they have or being able to connect with the people. The difference is the republicans have found a soft spot in the Obama campaign. They’ve found something fruitful to hit him on, his celebrity and inexperience. Meanwhile the democrats haven’t found a counter, so they’re desperately making things into bigger issues than they really are.
Pelosi should be less worried about slamming McCain and more worried about raising that 14% approval rating.
